Located near the Madarasi Hargita, the Fertő plateau is part of the Hargita ridge. We recommend this tour for cyclists trying to escape from the heat of summer to the shadow of the pine forests.
We’ll cycle up on a gravelled forest road which guides us from Ivo to Libán. Arriving under the Fertő plateau we can quench our thirst with water from a cool mountain spring. From the plateau there is a magnificent view towards the Harghita Madaras.
On the way to Libán, with a small detour we can visit the Devil’s Lake, the only high-altitude peat bog in northern Hargita. The peat bog hosts several rare, protected plants remaining from ice age.
Arriving in Libán, we follow the road connecting Székelyudvarhely with Gyergyószentmiklós to the Zetelaki Dam. From here return to Ivo passing by the Ivo Wildlife Park.
